Betfred Championship Preview | Round 23

Betfred Championship Preview | Round 23

We’re into Round 23 of the Betfred Championship, with the Play-Off charge well and truly on.

The final and intense stretch to the end of the regular season has recently got underway, and kickstarting this weekend’s action is a blood and thunder battle between the top two sides in the competition.

This standout fixture sees second-place Toulouse take on league leaders York Knights in the south of France.

Can the Knights extend their winning run to an astounding fifteen league matches? Or will Toulouse move level on points with the table toppers?

The teams last met in Round 2 with just a Jake Shorrocks drop goal on the final whistle separating the two, as the French snatched a 6-7 win.

Meanwhile, Sheffield host an formidable Bradford under the Friday Night Lights.

On Saturday, two Championship heavyweights Featherstone and Widnes will go head-to-head.

The Rovers have won their last ten home meetings against Widnes, and while Fev look to further consolidate their place in the Play-Offs, the Vikings will be hoping climb up the table and break into the six following a remarkable late turnaround.

In the English capital, London welcome high-flying Oldham as part of Sunday's action.

The Roughyeds are spearheading towards a top four finish in their promotion year, and could make it four wins on the bounce on Sunday.

They posted 50+ on the Broncos back in Round 4 at Boundary Park, but the stats show that London are undefeated in their last nine home meetings with Oldham, having won eight and drawn one.

Anything could happen in an unpredictable 2025 season!

It’s a must-win for Barrow in Round 23 as they travel to face Doncaster. The Raiders are four points adrift from sixth place and will need to pick up points against the chasing pack if they are to stand a chance.

This starts with Richard Horne’s Dons who currently occupy seventh.

Curtis Teare stole the show for Barrow in their most recent encounter – producing the match-winner in the tightest of affairs. Will we see more of the same this time round?

Finally, there’s a battle of the bottom when Hunslet entertain Batley.

How do you think the league standings will look after Round 23?
